“Quando sei felice”—When you are happy—the postcard on the counter reads.
Three words jotted down in a childish, all-caps handwriting over the vibrant sketch of a burning candle. It’s a reference to the spirit behind Do Farai, a former Venetian osteria established in 2001 in the heart of Dorsoduro, which will reopen in a few weeks under a new direction.
White, pristinely starched linens cover the tables; on top, clear Picardie glasses and heavy steel cutlery are symmetrically arranged; white candles are lit—each individually encased inside stainless steel cylindrical sticks. With a disco-funky music background, the chef is working behind the stoves, testing the upcoming menu: a list of 15 courses, ranging from fried artichokes to Milanese-style piccatine—or veal piccata—and the house’s broth soup, made daily.
While it will remain an independent entity—serving delicious food and classic cocktails in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere just round the corner from our headquarters—Do Farai is also part of Laguna~B’s own family: a new, larger parent group comprising our glassware company, Do Farai, and other endeavors—one of which we’ll reveal soon.
Preparations are in full swing for the opening on March 12. In the meantime, reservations are open.
P.S. If you want to stay up to date, Do Farai is also on Instagram.
